The accommodation is small but adequate, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms don't have lockers, the hot showers aren't hot, but the worst part is that you can only close the door of the room with a lock (no door knob), so if you go to sleep earlier than the rest of the dorm, they will have to wake you up to get in. I've had a great time here, met a lot of cool people and will and will definitely stay here again whenever I come back to Puerto Viejo. The only drawback why it doesn't get 5 stars is that the shared kitchen is quite small and not so well equipped for being such a big hostel. The rooms are wooden cabins with (each one with a padlock even the dorms). Mostly backpackers and long term travellers. It is a big place with many rooms (private and dorm) and always alive with young people from all over the world. Hotel Puerto Viejo is actually a hostel / bar / Restaurant. The heart and soul of Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast. The worst hotel i visited ! Music at 3am and no isolation in the room or window !! The staff is very gracious and accomodating English is widely spoken. The Hotel Cariblue is on the beautiful white sand beach of Playa Cocles, one of the best. Hostel is close to the beach and all the amenities, shops and restaurants with many many rooms, large kitchen areas and lounging areas. It offers privacy and comfort amidst a charming tropical landscape.
